The

Big

Lil

The Big Lil works with CEOs of non-profits and social enterprises who are overwhelmed with the external and internal work of running their organization. They help optimize and streamline systems, helping these organizations to be more organized and running smoothly. They needed an energetic brochure to communicate their mission and strengths, along with some icons to begin building their visual brand systems.

Process

The Big Lil wanted something attention grabbing and modern. At the time, they were just beginning to expand on their brand visuals so they needed something with versatility they could use in this brochure and plenty of other materials. I began by creating a vision board to establish the intended design direction so we have this blueprint to follow for the rest of the project. Then I created a unique background texture to embody this direction.

Icon Design

Furthering their visual library, a small set of icons proved to be an efficient way of building easy-to-use graphics they could place wherever they needed. These icons were made to be versatile and flexible in meaning. I’ve listed options for what the icons could represent given the context.

The icons were also designed to embody The Big Lil’s welcoming personality and clever play on words. The focus of the icon is the “Big” and vibrant piece, whereas the “Lil” parts with light and dark blues are more for context and containment of the graphic.

Brochure Design

And with those elements established, I put together this brochure design with the content provided. This brochure was also designed with functionality in mind, as it was designed to be easily broken down into a template that The Big Lil can use for future layout projects. Here’s a couple pages from the brochure.
